Remembering Jacksonville
Remembering Jacksonville has been such a treat for me, writing the book as well as reminiscing about my wonderful home in my column. It has been great fun to revisit those old haunts and events that were the cornerstone of a younger generation’s independent lives. And I had far more fun reliving old times than I would have had arguing politics or social ills with someone. I loved sitting down with old friend and new and talking about what made us who we are—our schools and our games, our music and our movies, our hangouts and the weather that surrounded them. All of these discussions made for a rosy, glowing feeling by the end of each conversation, and it is my hope that as people read this book I might have jogged the memory and touched on things the reader hasn’t thought about or appreciated in ages.
